You know what phrase I would have loved to been at the orgin of... "Beating a dead horse".

"Where is Carlos?"
"Oh just outside punching Seabiscuit a few more times"
"Why is he beating a dead horse?"

Update: Wikipedia, of course, has the orgin of the term.

Wikipedia is a lot like James Burke. I started at beating a dead horse and wound up at meerkats in only three steps: Horse Latitudes - Kalahari Desert - Meerkats. It amazes me sometimes how things are linked together like that. All you have to do is click on the blue link.
